Was thinking about going next year to Le Mans with some good friends. Seeming as I've only ever done it once when I was much younger and my friends have never done it. Does anyone know what it would cost to have 5 people camping from Thursday evening to Sunday evening? We'd probably get the train through all the way to Le Mans or potentially buy a very cheap, throw away car just for the weekend (being creative with the styling of said car!).

What would you experienced gentlemen (and ladies) recommend for greenhorn Le Mans pilgrims!

This year prices (assume a slight increase but should be close):

2x People per car - Camping and general entry tickets - £119pp - Can be cheaper if more people are in the same vehicle.

Dover to Calais Ferry Crossing - Approx £65 per car

Calais to Le Mans around 250miles if memory serves, plus your own UK location to Dover distance for estimated fuel costs.

Tolls around 30Euro each way - assuming those roads are used.

Should give you a rough idea.

5 people in a scenic or similar, camping on 2 piches in Houx will be about 400 quid fully inc of beer, tabs and food.

If you can keep to 1 car it helps massively - the tolls / petrol / crossing / euro breakdown / extra camp pitch soon mount up!

Above seems about right with the biggest variation being the ferry and where you get it from.

Tend to have plenty of change from about £300.

Three in my car, these were our approximate costs in total;

Home to Folkestone - £70 fuel
Tunnel travel with bikes on roof - £175
Calais to Le Mans fuel - £100
Tolls - £28
Super-U shopping - approx £100
Ecommoy Camping - £60
Arnage/Mulsanne ticket - £27
Trackside costs inc booze - approx £130
Le Mans to Calais fuel - £70
Tolls - £28
Folkestone to home fuel - £40

So £276. However, I took £500 in Europes and bought back £45, dunno where the rest went.
