Just weighed my flywheel at 10.29 kg (22.68lb), wish i had taken the chance to take some more off. Too late now its going on.
Its hardly heavy Derek but yes you could have lost another 1.5 kg or thereabouts dont worry mate this thing will spin round the tach like a scalded cat anyways macdeb said:
First hundred miles is critical Daz
^ This IMO then just keep winding it up and down the tacho vary loads etc etc followed by an early oil and filter change (still mineral with the RV8) then things get more serious always done things this way most things are over and done by 300 miles IMO but seriously if you fk this stuff up maybe you should pack the cars in its not an exact science thats not aimed at anyone by the way and if it breaks during this period the build was st anyway i.e oil clearances to tight etc DangerousDerek said:
The spigot bearing John at Readman racing gave me for free whilst i was getting the gearbox rebuilt again.
Clutch aligned, bellhousing and starter motor fitted, now to winch it in.
Keep at it Derek, you're running out of time?Clutch aligned, bellhousing and starter motor fitted, now to winch it in.
Did you source some rocker box bolts?

Ive ran out of time really. Gearbox to go in tomorrow morning, exhaust, plumbing and wiring to connect. Then maybe will be time to fire it up. I guess with luck i could have it bed in and maybe even put a couple miles on it but the fuelling will be out. I guess will be weak so will have to keep an eye on it but it really needs to go to Dale to set up properly.Did you source some rocker box bolts?
I wont be racing it this weekend thats for sure .
Look back in the thread a bit Peter, i used some larger metric cap heads, drilled open the rockers and spacers and retapped the heads.

That was a bit severe!!!!This thread has been great, this is the engine we should all be building,,
I now have a full understanding of what's required,
The ports for instance,,,,, make mine look tiny,,,
So valuable and Peter you know your stuff,,,,

You should do it for a living ! why did I have to wait three months for my engine ?
I couldnt handle the stress and responsibility of an engine that wasnt mine. Not at this level of build anyway.I am currently trying to remember where the wiring goes. Generally just flop it over the engine and hope for the best.
Still got to fit the gearbox, prop, exhaust, radiator and plumbing, plenum, intake etc.
