Gearbox and prop are in.
Now where the hell is the smiley plate?
Might have to stop wasting my time looking and get the clutch slave fitted anyway. Times a wasting!

It's the 4 small bolts that bolt the plate on that tend to go missing!

There's always more to finishing the job than you think.

I lost them years ago.

Just wiring the starter was bad enough. I couldn't help myself cleaning and tidying the rats nest down there.

So called it a day.

Tomorrow... gear linkage, interior trim, radiator, exhaust, swirl pot, plenum, plug leads, inlet, fuel lines and a lot of checks before connecting the battery.

Gonna need to modify the coilpack bracket as it fouls the flame trap in the P6 rocker cover.
I will also be making a fresh set of leads but the old ones will do for now.

Getting there, just need to fit the exhaust system.

Its been a fight all the way.

The exhaust slipped on easy.

So a few checks then connected the Oddysey battery and the positive post sheared!
Managed to get another nut on a couple of threads without a washer.

Then with the fuel off i turned the key. Little tight at first then turning over nicely. Turned the key off and it kept turning over by itself so i had to disconnect the battery.
I had this problem last time and couldnt figure out what it was. The only difference was the alternator so i swapped the old one back and it fixed the problem. This is the good alternator so i am stumped!

Old thread from last time! http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Found a missing earth on the MS.

It fired up straight away, revved it between 3 and 4k for a couple of minutes till the smoke cleared off the manifolds.
Got a little water leak to fix then will try run it up to temp.
Also need to richen the map up somewhat. The AFR flies about if varying revs but it goes weak if holding constant revs.

Would you get a better flow of gasses if you removed the old lambdas and drilled the insert part and then welded flat plate ?

So the date is booked for the rolling road session. We will also be fitting a set of Jenvey 412cc injectors beforehand.

So if anyone wants to have a guess at the figures there will be a prize for the closest wink
