When did the Clubman get the N18 engine in the Cooper S?

As above, and when browsing on Autotrader is there any easy way to tell which engine the car has. I know the hatch was around 2008/9.

Any reason why it wasn't until June 2010 that the N18 appeared in the hatchback? I would have thought it would have appeared at the same in both.
