The best finish you'll ever achieve is probably with Nuvite ll.

A common question.
I used a drilll polishing lit to break the initial dullness, then solvite, and finally I've been using meguires "metal polysh" which seems to work and last pretty well.
However the general answer on locostbuilders is generally to buy a cheap angle polisher (there's a silverline one all over ebay for around 40-50 quid) and use that. I keep meaning to try one but never get around to it

I obtained my Nuvite from Perfectpolish.com in the states. As a couple of us wanted it the carriage when split wasn't that bad. However I have just googled Nuvite and it came up with http://www.vintageairstreams.co.uk there may well be other 'Airstream' and Aviation suppliers that would stock it.
I recall that one Aviation company I spoke to a couple of years ago (and whose name I forget...) said that they get it in batches from the states when needed.
The stuff is the 'bees knees' so well worth the effort.
Alternatively, Autosol and Belgom work with more elbow grease.

Aircraft industry use a product called Wadpol to polish aly. I've got the remains of a gallon can from 1986 that we used to use on the engine cowlings on Pan Am's 747's at LHR. Each night we had 40 chaps do a deep clean on one of their 36 B747's and four guys had an engine each to polish. Spent all night on iot but got the cowls to where they could see their faces in it. Lovely job.
I "inherited/borrowed" a can and still use it today for the odd polishing job. Google has it available for sale in the UK but it might be pricey. Worth phoning the distributor and see if they have a sample pack for you to try it out
