I am building a Race Drift car for my 17 year old paraplegic son who has Cancer. His ambition has always been to be a pro drift driver. If there is anybody out there that could help adapt his Nissan S13 would you please get in touch as he needs to have everything adapted to hand controls such as clutch, brakes and gear change. I know we could source some of these parts in the US but the cost is prohibitive. We have just returned from California where Ben drove the only other adapted drift car in the world. I have video footage (click the link) of Ben using the controls he used there to give some idea of whats needed. Ben wants also to share the car with other like minded disabled people and provide at our local race track at Castle Combe. Hope you can help.

It may also be worth talking to Marc Haynes of Haynes manuals fame. Try and contact him via the Sparkford Motor Museum or the GT Cup organisers. He used to race a Porsche 911 with hand controls, although it is a long time ago.

Can't help but I'm with you.

My disabled son had a ride in a Radical SR3 the other day and is now convinced he will become a pro driver! But then he also wants to a paramecia, a policeman (but only in car chases), play in goal for Man Utd and be a fighter pilot.

And be a vet.

The very best of luck, and please be sure to post a video when he's up and running.

Hi

He has already drifted and he has talent. Have a look at the video. Thankfully this is not a passing phase.

I work with the lads at Mission Motorsport.

The first thing I'd suggest would be dropping Nathalie Mcgloin a line through her website - http://www.nathaliemcgloinracing.com

Nat races a Cayman in the PCGB championship that MM prepared for her.

She's a tetraplegic who also uses hand controls on her 991 GT3 (!) and Lamborghini Huracan (!!). What she doesn't know about hand control mods isn't worth knowing. She has limited mobility in her arms, zero below the waist. She's incredible.

The lad in the wheelchair who runs the E30 BMW is called Aaron Morgan and you can find his website here - http://www.aaronmorganracing.com

Hey up, a great challenge

An ex pro drifter here & I also have plenty experience demo'ing & using hand controls for the less able bodied. I would suggest going down the custom route, in the end it will be easier, more adaptable & simpler.

Thanks to all of you that have replied to the post. Rob Parsons (The Chairslayer)has agreed to come over from the US and fit a copy of his own controls which were designed by himself to drift his 600hp S13. It all will cost a bomb even at Robs cost price. so we are in the process of selling everything that's not bolted down to pay for this. If you have time take a moment to go to The chairslayer website and you will see Rob demo the controls to Ben before he takes the car out on track.

There is a guy who competes in the BDC and has one leg.

His got a car thats being finished off with hand controls.

I know of one other in the UK thats got throttle, brake and handbrake all on what would be the standard handbrake.

Built by Zurawski Motorport, give them a ring and chat as he will be able to help for sure.
