Thinking about pulling the trigger on this Speedmaster https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-speedmaster-... Im not missing anything obviously wrong with it am i? I figure as it's got the box and papers i should be fine.
I know this isn't the done thing on here but this is my first online second hand purchase so i'm anxious not to cock it up.

Looks ok, but you know it's NOT a Moonwatch, right?

It's also known as the reduced, as it's quite small. I would say around 37mm, so saying it's big, is a **** take.

I thought it's 39mm and the reduced was 35mm
The Moonwatch is 42mm and hand wind and the reduced 38.5mm and an automatic.

Nothing wrong with the reduced, but people are sometimes fooled into thinking they've found a bargain Moonwatch. That's why I mentioned it.

Might just be photos, but he says it's "mint", but it looks like the crystal, case and bracelet all have some marks to me, although close ups can be very cruel.

I see his email address is Hong Kong, though... Could be fine, but does he have a good rep on that forum? If so, nothing wrong with being in HK. If he's a bit of an unknown, I wouldn't gamble personally.

Point take about reduced v moonwatch, i appreciate the concern.

The seller has about a dozen ads on the forum and loads here http://www.mywatchmart.com/users/cf-ken/?page=3so i imagine he is ok.

Isn't the reduced a real nightmare to service/ repair?

It does wear smaller than it's supposed 38.5mm and my wrist is only 6.5". It's the bezel that gives the impression of size.

Oh, price seems a bit steep in that condition. Although a bit of stretch in a bracelet known as the "hair puller" can only be a good thing biggrin

I used to have one of these. There are two types of clasp - the twin push button (which is similar to the larger Speedies) and the "pull" clasp. This one has a pull clasp. It's not as nice to use, so be aware of that.

I moderate the sales section of the very site that is listed. CF Ken is very well respected and has done several deals with various members.

The 3510 in my opinion is a great place to start if you want to buy a Speedmaster. If you want a Speedmaster Pro aka Moonwatch you should look at the 3570.50 - it as close as you will get to the original Moonwatch, it has since been discontinued now and replaced with a newer version but purists (like me) want the 3570.

Good luck!
