panasonic lg samsung or sony ?
Discussion
I recently replaced my 7 year old Panasonic 46" plasma with a Samsung 55" curved telly. I was initially not that impressed, but after spending a couple of hours calibrating it, it looks a lot better. To me, the blacks are as good as the Panny, and everything else is "better".
The Panny was always a bit soft when fed a decent 1080p signal, the Samsung is a lot crisper, without looking artificial.

You will find a good plasma will produce a decent picture to rival the latest LED TV's, Ive always championed the Panny stuff not only because its picture quality is great but i have a supplier deal so get decent prices (unless richer sounds are having a blow out)
I recently put side by side my own Pioneer 43" plasma and a top of the range Panny Led tv fed from the same source. As a previous poster has said a little bit of calibration on both sets and i would say my Pioneer was as good as the Panny.
I have installed a few Sony sets for clients and have seen that they really don't look that good coming from what was once a top brand (when Trinitron sets were around)
LG i wouldn't bother with as know of a few that have PCB problems after very little time.
Samsung are not too bad but not my preferred.
Its probably better to go to somewhere like richer sounds to view real inputs and not super high def discs on loop like Currys etc.

Samsung or Panasonic are probably better choice. Panasonic just about better picture but "smart" side of it Samsung miles better.
Sony picture is ok, BUT sony uk don't exist anymore (it's subcontracted to a repair company) so if it goes wrong god help you!
Lg again decent picture but not my favorite
