What Bumps...................................................tongue out It can get very bent out of shape over those bumps and more than a few moments holding my breath there but it can be very quick indeed especially if you are sliding up the inside of another car. Interestingly I never aim for the traffic lights for that very reason. Extreme care should be taken into quarry , were you told the staggering fact 25% of all motorsport accidents in the UK happen at that corner at the drivers briefing.
I started off using the traffic lights line, but couldn't get the turn in right. Then I had a few laps in the left seat of the Phazed-mobile, and he took wide left line in, so I tried that and it suited a fast exit better. I guess in a close race you need to protect the apex.
We were told about the accident tally. Just took our time learning the track and forgot about it. If anything I found the worry of missing my braking point going into Tower more of a concern.

Thanks to Phil for giving me his Megane locking wheel bolts to fix my trailer. Typical over-40 male PHer - kindness itself...

You're right - I was behind the black Caterfield in the late morning when he did the same thing in a nice little cloud of smoke

Had a few issues with my car so didn't get as much track time as I'd have liked (but still got enough not to be annoyed with it) and I didn't share any time on track with you gents in tvrs. From the go pro it looks like I was doing very roughly 1.25s when not in traffic so it looks like I would have been at a similar pace as you all so wouldn't have seen you if you were on the other side of the track.

Saw a few of you on the way home though as you sailed past just before we joined the M25.

Had a blowout on the trailer half way home in the middle of traffic on the m4. Good job I bought a twin axle trailer. Hemmed in by commuters and lorries so doesn't bear thinking about.

Cheers,

Mark

Very modest of you Anthony wink To be fair you were on it that day, and much respect from me as that little Chim was flying around Combe. By the end of the day you were lapping very quickly, clearly mastered it. I was still struggling a bit but was able to string together a few decent laps.

I have uploaded Bassfiend's footage he very kindly gave to us onto YouTube. Looks like you overtook the macca Anthony?

Editing up the rest of mine over the next few days.

Nice video Phil. I agree about the Lotus, but I particularly liked the McLaren 650S.......and the fact it was trailing along behind me. heheAll credit to the geezer for going for something different after 3 Astons, and for bringing a two week old car on a track day. His track day insurance broker conversation must have been interesting!

I'd love to come on more days with you guys, but they all seem to be in the week and its near impossible to take a day off. Weekends are only really plausible for me... frown
So, if you could arrange one for a Sat/Sun that would be awesome and I should be able to join you (not sure if good or bad lol)

Quick write up from me, I will do a full one later on and post in the Griff forum.

Another fantastic day made even better by great TVR friends. I was in two minds whether to book this up as it is a bit of a trek for me but glad I made the effort. It was an early 04:30 start for me but the traffic was good and arrived at 08:00 for the briefing. Peter and Anthony were looking a bit worse for wear after their evening of red wine, I dare say Anthony needed it after the debacle with the wheel on his trailer.

The briefing was 'interesting' I made particular note of Quary being the most crashed corner of any UK track so the advice given was brake before the hill, neutral throttle over the hill and then brake further once on the correct line on entry to the corner. I never quite mastered it but the car is still in once piece so that is a bonus.

I opted straight for the instruction which Peter managed to negotiate into the price of the day, many thanks for that Peter. The instructor was great and showed me lines and gave me lots of useful tips.

Driving around the track I did have the same thoughts as Anthony, barriers are very close and no run off or gravel traps whatsoever. Clearly not a circuit where you can take the piss.

Peter also very kindly took me out in his car, I must say I am very impressed with his new cam it 'feels' much faster that it did before, must be the extra torque. What cam did you go for Peter?

The combination of instruction and going out with Peter by the afternoon I had a bit more confidence and was pushing the car harder I had a great run with the Porsche Cayman which pulled me through to my fastest time of the day 1:28.88.

Great to see and catch up with Anthony Precat as well, we had a great run back and was enjoying watching the epic flames from his stunning Griff. Perfect end to a great day. When is the next one? We haven't done my favourite circuit yet this year Snett 300.

I think you will need to post the next one in the Griff forum Peter, we had more Griffs than Chims at Combe wink

Trailer behaved perfectly on the way home thanks. I won't be having a repeat of any of the problems.
