Castlecombe, a great track.

Just dipping my toe in the water to find out what interest there is.

There is an open pit lane next month.

http://orders.motorsport-events.com/EventDetails.a...

Or a cheaper option, but this is semi open pit lane.

https://www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk/trackdays/tra...

I have never done this format so cannot comment on the amount of TrackTime that you can get.

We all know what open pit lane is like and you can go out as often as you like.

I'll go with the flow.................

What do you think?

Never done Combe so would love to give it a crack.

Semi open pit lane sounds interesting, like you say no idea how it will actually work on the day.

£199 is expensive for a track day IMO, especially when you have a TVR there is always a possibility it won't even get there! ;-) £170 does sound more reasonable but there is the risk on the new format. I will go with the flow. I might be able to scrape enough pennies together for the full price one.

Anyone done any evening track days?

1. Combe - count me in, whichever format. I rather suspect that on semi-OPL, after the first half hour to an hour it will be normal service resumed, given how empty the track at Bedford was for most of the day.
2. Evening TDs - I have done several. They are great value if not a million miles from your home. You leave having had a good time, and still just wanting more. The only frustrating is the amount of time old waffle chops wastes with the briefing and sighting laps. With only 2.5 hours I am silently screaming "get on with it!!!!! Cut the jokes, get on with the sighting, you are wasting our track time"

Fluke that 'new' format. Open pit would be my choice. Let me check my diary. Can chat on Thursday if you appear wink

I'm at combe on the 24th July harrassing porkers evil if my car survives its first full t/d in 4 yrs then count me in for any.
M.S.E always well run but for some reason are always over priced at combe...I've done few of the other and it works quite well if not too many cars, but you tend to come into pits after a session and tag straight onto the back of the next Que to go out otherwise it's a long wait between sessions

In which case Peter's selection gets my vote.

Is what a t/d? If you mean the pork harrassing, then yeah it used to be a Porsche 928 owners club event, but now has a number of interesting regulars non Porsche. I'm looking fforward to giving a particular noble a hard time if I can get the new chassis and suspension dialled in smile

The higher the price, the less cars,,,,, usually anyway, so can be a good thing for getting into the flow, nothing worse than using all that gas and tyres to have to come out of it cos there's a Sierra at every turn!

Too soon for me to be ready I think Peter but I might come along for some rides ,,

Errrrr that's if I can get home safely,,, smile

I wonder if I can get my car on the road for that date 31st?
If the Hse sale gets done by the end of next week,,,, unlikely!
If Dom and Jay can fit me in,, unlikely,
Mmmm, it seems unlikely then!
For months my car just sits there,,, I can be faffing about saving my outriggers but without knowing I can drive the blighter I've got no motivation to get under the thing,,,
I'll be fking glad when my cars sorted,,,,,,

I missed that one,,, I bloody need help I know that,,,
Yeah well you left me to that crazy Grief bloke, it was all throttle bodies and noise, my hearing returned by Thursday!
I nearly got a Griff off James Agger so I've always wondered,,,,
Ian's car is a special thing,,
As I said to your good self Anthony your car is on the money,,, cux for Gords sake!
Handles good and goes like the clappers.
When I drove Ian's car I couldn't put my finger on it,,,,
I didn't feel comfortable, it felt different,
I realised what it was a few days later,,, I didn't wear gloves?!!!???!!
I know it's weird but i have to wear the damn things.

My recollection of Castle Combe is lying under the car trying to get an additional silencer fitted to bring the noise level down as it is a fair bit lower than some other circuits-- so check your db. It is a lovely circuit and suits TVRs

Yes beware of noise. They are very strict here and the majority of TVRs are over their noise limit and they will turn you away! Sadly its all due to the pompous inbreds that buy a mega money property near a race track and then want it shutting down!!
