Planning a holiday to see the Italian Lakes in my TVR Sagaris.... Well if TVR really are coming back Europe needs a taster to whet their appetite lol ;-)

Current plan is to get to Lusanne pretty direct on Day1 from Berkshire for a single night stop over, then hotel for 4 nights at Lake Garda, followed by hotel for 4 nights at Lake Maggiore (less distance to get home for work on the Monday!!)

Please could you advise on routes to take and links to Garmin files for Best Drive from Lusanne to Garda, and then some of the iconic drives I should be doing!whilst I'm in the area.

Many, Many Thanks in advance.
Mike

So, basically, you want someone to research and plan your holiday for you?

No, I would like to benefit from other people's experience of driving SOME of the iconic routes around that part of the country... My post did not indicate that I wanted 8-10 days of start to finish detailed documented routes for an entire holiday imo.

Have you never asked for help or a recommendation ??

Thanks for your help anyways !

ok. Im just on my way back from a similar trip. Cant give you road numbers, but here's a rough itineray - great roads, great scenery:

Lausanne -use the motorway from Lausanne to Brig. Nothing to see, crap road, cops and Swiss drivers.
Brig
Furka pass
andermatt
oberalp pass to Chur
davos
fluela pass
Zernez
offenpass
(Past the bottom of the Stelvio, go up and backtrack if you have time)
Bolzano - stay at the Luna parc mondschein
we did Lausanne to Bolzano in a day without hurrying (Mrs H in the passenger seat as auto speed limiter)
Lake Garda
Then hit the Autoroute back to Briancon
Col du Lauteret
col du Galibier
col du telegraphe
Lake Annecy
Champagne region (still there, empty bottle on the table)

Just another thought. If you after good drives, forget the Italian lakes. Overcrowded. The best drives are in the Alps and Dolomites. Bolzano is very good. Stelvio, Tonalle and many other "passos" close. For a quick drive back, Como might be a better bet. Grand Hotel Menaggio. You can then get back over the St Gothard, then mway all the way to Calais.
From Bolzano you can get back to Calais in 2 days using mway via Innsbruck, Stuttgart etc.
