Hi All,

Hope everyone's car is looking gleaming!!??

I purchased my dream car approximately 9-10 months ago.

Being Basalt black (996 Turbo S) it had a few stone chips (mainly on the nose and a couple on the bonet).

I had a very good deatiler, detail my car, the full works. It took him 2 days and the car looked brand new. OK it has only done 27,000 miles but it looked better than a brand new showroom car!!!!

Anyway, long story short.....Now that I have driven her a few thousand miles (weekend car) and wash and waxed her a 10-15 times, I have noticed something....

.....Where the detailer filled the tiny stonechips and then used very fine wet & dry, you can now......if you look on a bright sunny day and keep moving you head side/side, see where the rubbing marks are for the wet & dry. I guess this has been masked by the lotions and potions he used but how to I bring it back to brand new fresh.....detail again and spend lots of money or is there something I can used to "fill-in" the rub marks.

I must point out, the rub-marks are tiny and are on the bonet and I dont think anyone could see them, really, but I can when I wash and dry the car.

I have only ever used quick wax spray stuff from halfords, and am not sure what I need to do?

Help needed.

In the first instance I would suggest taking it back to the detailer in question to see what he suggests. Ordinarily I would expect that any sanding marks would be removed by the further compounding and refining of the paintwork however on this occasion it appears that these marks may have been masked by the carriers in the compounds or by whatever glaze or protective product he used. After all, we are all only human and in some cases, small marks can get missed.

Beyond that, a glaze product like Britemax Black Max (britemax.co.uk/acatalog/Black_Max.html) will fill marks and a good protective coating over the top will see this lasting a while, but it will need repeating on a fairly regular (6-monthly) basis to continue the effect.

Do feel free to get in touch if we can offer any further advice.

Are there any other products that you could recommend, that I could grab on the way home from Halfords!?!

Apologies - have only just seen your reply....

As above, the best products are found online. An veritable smorgasbord of websites await your business - for example, i4detailing.co.uk, allgoodcarcare.co.uk, spautopia.co.uk, etc...

However, if you must get something from Halfords, AutoGlym Super Resin Polish as a filler-heavy glaze is OK topped with HD Wax or similar. However it will really not compare to the likes of BlackMAX or Poorboy's Blackhole, finished with a longer term sealant.
