Electric window switch bulbs

After five years of ownership I've just noticed that the lights in the electric window switches are off when I have the car lights on and on at all other times...... probably the cause of my unidentified battery drain.

If these bulbs can be removed will there be any underlying issues that would still cause the battery to drain?

Battery drain caused by these bulbs would stop when removed. Better fix the root cause, wiring/ light switch connector ?
