New house coming up and I've decided my 42" 7 year old Panasonic Viera needs upgraded to something better.

Ive been looking for a while and I'm pretty spoilt for choice......so I'm here looking for other people's opinions, I'm after a 50" +, 4K and must be less than a grand.

What's your thoughts?

I'd think very carefully before buying a 50"+ 4K telly for a grand. I've just bought a 55" Panasonic 4K for a couple of grand, but wouldn't have bought the previous model due to comparability problems with app software etc and picture quality. I'd also avoid anything from smaller manufacturers.

You can buy a very good 65" for a grand. Why do you want 4K? There are almost no compatible programmes as yet, but ours does a fantastic job of upscaling Blu-Ray movies.

What model do you currently have? Is it plasma?

I have a Panasonic plasma of a similar age, and find the SD (which the vast majority of TV is) looks miles better on it that on current LCD sets
