Fan override switch

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me where the fan relay is to be found?
I want to wire up a fan override switch and guess this would be the best place to connect to.

Any suggestions or a wiring diagranm of how you have done yours would be gratefully received.

Fan relay should be one of the relays alongside the fuse board. Not the easiest place to break into the wiring.


How I did mine................


There are two wires at the "Otter" switch on the top hose. One will be earth, leave that one alone, and other should be live with ignition on. Simple way is to piggyback onto that connection and run a wire to your switch and from other side of switch take a wire to a good earth.

But that looks messy!

I followed the loom back from the Otter switch, cut into it somewhere under the dash and spliced into that wire, tape up and no untidy "extra" wires or connections under the bonnet.

Found a circular push on/push off illuminated switch that fits in the hole where the cigarette lighter used to be, that got moved to the opposite side (hole already in fibreglass under the vinyl) because if you plug a charger in you keep hitting it with your knee.

Snap! Almost exactly except I used a low profile toggle switch from Car Builder Solutions. I also looked at wiring near the relay but decided it wasnt the best option. I also agree with Philpott that the socket for an accessory should be on the passengers side.

So how, may I ask, is one supposed to stoke up ones cigar whiles motoring solo if the blessed lighter has been moved to the passenger side?

If I remember a then famous advert correctly, isnt she supposed to roll it on her thigh for you then light it for you?
