Missing hose?

Can anybody tell me what should be connected to this on my S1?



I've had a bad experience with a garage - I only sent it for an MOT, but I think they have been tinkering with stuff they shouldn't have. I have since spotted this, and it does not look right, as a) the clip suggests something was attached, and b) it seems to be sucking unfiltered air into the engine.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Originally there would have been a pipe to the air box with a filter in it, many people fitted after market filters direct to the throttle body, down side is that is then sucking in hot air.

The above reply is nonsense I'm afraid. There should be a black nylon pipe that goes inside the rubber pipe there and the other end goes to the top of the charcoal canister which is mounted on the bulkhead underneath the coolant header tank. If you can't find the pipe you can just blank it off to stop the air leak and it will be fine.
