Thanks for the input too mate.. glad to hear these things are normal.

Yes it is indeed Nelly who i want to use. If it was going to be repaired he's the man id trust to do it. The underwriter seemed to understand my concern of a nearly new bike being repaired by a non franchise agent in case of further issues down the line since the engine was running for a bit with no oil etc.

Im a bit gutted im missing riding time though. Ive got a monster too but theres no way i can ride yet (or walk further than a couple of steps).

The guy is coming out to view the bike today from my insurance company. Hopefully it all goes well.

Am i better letting my insurance company deal with it? id have to pay excess, and cant claim for my clothing yet or shall i call the drivers insurance and try to deal direct on the hope they pay out quicker and easier ?

No harm ringing and trying but be explicit that you have other uninsured losses as well including injury.

Ah. I assumed you knew his details. Have they been in touch with you at all? If not by now than is just leave it and stick to your insurance. This will worry you, but it shouldn't. If his insurer haven't rung you then he might not have reported the claim yet. It's not a problem so don't worry.

Stick with your insurers and the solicitors they've recommended for you. You'll be fine following that route.

Insurance assessor came and looked. He didn't give much away apart from saying that it needs a fair few parts to put it right and it won't be cheap. Seemed a nice guy but wouldn't let on if he thought it would be repaired. Said he submit a report to the insurance. Fingers crossed

It's a write off. He won't let you k ow anything, as he'll normally deal with cars and have to go back and Google Ducati before writing it off.

he reckoned he'd got 3 bikes on my road all to look at today. I live on main road but find that shocking that 3 people all have crashed etc.

Company he came from was C T Bratley in Grimsby. No idea if he doesn't usually do bikes or not.

Settle down for a long wait. My crash was 3rd March this year, the git who hit me has decided not to fill in an accident report at all, so the third party are still stalling even on basic liability. If I[I]needed[/] the bike/money to get back on the road, I'd have been well stuck by now.

Sounds like a one man band, as no website.

Stop fretting, you can't hurry it along or change anything yet

The assessor guy called me today to ask where he could obtain an idea of Ducati part prices and the labour involved so I've pointed him in direction of 2 local dealers.

I also received a letter today from the blokes insurance (saga) asking me to call them reference the incident. The letter talks about making my life easier , getting my vehicle repaired , and a loan car. I assume this might be damage mitigation? To stop costs spiralling. I don't need a car as I have one and I don't want a bike loaner.

Also I've received a claim pack from my insurer asking me to fill in what happened and witnesses etc.

Ring Saga and see what they have to say now you have their details. Tell them you'd appreciate them paying for the bike as a starter in full amd if they do you won't take a hire bike. Ask them to make you an offer. You can always take whichever insurer makes the best offer.

Told you he wouldn't have a clue about bikes.

I'll give them a call in the morning. Does it matter that my insurance have already got involved in terms of sending a bloke out, and other little bits..? Don't want to get wedged with a bill.

The soliciter my insurance has appointed is coming on Friday to see me in regards my claim.

No bill, no chance. If your insurer offer you £15000 amd the other side £16000 then take the £16000. Same applies of the roles are reversed. I'm guessing at the figures I don't know how much Ducatis cost or are worth, so ignore that. Although I did nearly take out a guy on a SuperLeggera today, as he was in the wrong group at Oulton Park.

Be careful of signing anything with the solicitor, although I'd suggest you may be better off with them ,as your injuries don't sound simple enough for a simple pre med offer from Saga.

Spoke to saga. The driver has admitted fault which is good. They want to minimise cost so are going to liaise with my insurance so nothing gets doubled up.

Saga called again today. I've got to submit receipts for leathers/helmet etc. Told them what you said that i don't want a loan bike but would appreciate it being written off and full value etc. They are coming to look at he bike today and see where we go from there. My injury is a separate issue they say as its more serious than a car accident so i've got to leave that to solicitors.
