The original Pioneer CD player in my Chim is not working and I'm gonna upgrade
but would prefer to keep the originality of the front panel. Can anyone advise
someone who specialises in these retro type upgrades.

Probably better for you to have a browse on ebay and see what you like, not many manufacturers make them. Pioneer did a slightly retro looking one some years ago but i dont think they are available anymore.

I met this chap at a show, couple of years ago now, he sells "retro" radios/stereos and puts modern internals in old fashioned cases if you want Ipod/MP3 etc.
Might be able to do something for you?

Do you meant the head unit or the boot CD changer? The picture on your profile suggests a radio cassette player, not a CD player.

Mine is a W reg and still has the original radio cassette pioneer fitted. When the CD changer in the boot went wrong (CDX-P650), I bough a different one (CDX-P25) second hand because it had the same connector, plugged it in and it worked fine.

Thanks for replies. My Chim is a '99 on a T. Basically the radio/ cassette player both work
fine but the CD doesn't. It used to work but only for seconds and then would go off but now it doesn't even "see" the CD. I did take it to a "auto sound" place but they were talking about sending it away
and it sounded expensive but think he just wanted to sell me a new one. Are these retro ones expensive??
I shall do some research based on your replies; thanks again.

There is an inline fuse to the boot CD player that is hidden in in the loom within the carpet. At least, there is on mine. May be worth checking first.

In my opinion, this is one of the finest head units ever made, both technically and visually. The Pioneer DEH-P77MP.
