S3C door mirror loose
Discussion
I've got the Citroen door mirrors on my S3C, one of which needs to be tightened up. I gave up after a couple of hours yesterday trying to tighten the grub screw with a modified allen key - there just isn't enough room to get the allen key onto the grub screw with the mirror in situ.
I've seen an old post from the Chimaera form which suggests you can remove the mirror housing from the door mounting tripod which makes access to the grub screw easier. Has anyone tried this approach on an S?

You're going to have to take the mirror off the door (just grab hold of the mirror and unscrew the whole thing from the door) the tripod is bolted to the mirror from underneath.
See http://marcosforum.org/topic/5465/Mirror-mounting-... for how it's attached, except that on our cars the grub screw is buried where you can't get to it because it looks a bit prettier

I swapped my mirror mount last week, to be honest I don't really see what the fuss is about the allen key, I juat used an allen bit in a socket on 1/4" ratchet with an extension bar with the door open.
Suppose it depends on the position of the grub screw.
Could take a picture tonight if it helps?

It shouldn't be any different if the mirrors are the same as mine.
Oh and for OP, mine was loose because the bracket had sheared. Replacements available from TVR parts for a reasonable price.
Mine also has the grub screw set back in the hole in the door, is it the new bracket that has a longer collar on it so that the grub screw is more accessible?Oh and for OP, mine was loose because the bracket had sheared. Replacements available from TVR parts for a reasonable price.

Can you clarify please? Did you replace the old mount with a new longer one, or swap the mounts from side to side? My grub screw is also at the bottom and hidden in the door moulding when the mirror is in the correct position. A right pain when it works lose.Gassing Station | S Series | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
