Condensed version:
Here maps won't delete my saved maps. Neither will uninstalling the app.
They remain on the SD card but disappear from the Here list.

Is this right?

Full version:

I've been using Here as my main satnav for a while now and I really like it. I installed it on a Sony Xperia Z2 with KitKat on it and have since updated the phone to Lollipop.
Since I downloaded it about 6-8 months ago I've just used it offline with the entire Europe area map stored on my micro SD card but I decided to free up space and just download European maps as and when I need them.

So I tried deleting the map through the app but it just wouldn't do it. It disappeared from the list of maps and made about 20MB free.

Uninstalling the app also wouldn't do it.

Eventually I put the SD card into my laptop and deleted the whole thing that way. It was around 14.5GB.

Can this be right/normal? I would've thought it should delete residual files when you uninstall it. And also that the app should be able to do it - if you want a map of Albania just for one week that you're spending there with a hire car, why keep it forever?

Similar problem, I used a file explorer on my phone to get rid of excess files that werent needed. I thought it was because I moved it to Sd after install

Could be due to the way it was ported from Windows Phone. Raise a bug on the Here forums and it should get looked into. They are usually fairly responsive to bug reports.

mine was android

ETA - I see what you mean now. I uninstalled it because i thought it was rubbish compared to Waze, so no bug report needed!

I have never used Waze (I am on Windows Phone) but what did you find st about Here maps? I really like it and have used it all over the world with amazing success.

Routing and traffic updates, then rerouting around traffic. Waze did it a lot better, but I guess that's because it's designed to.

As a basic navigation it was fine but missed quite a few ways to avoid traffic and take a better route.

Good point on the traffic re-routing. I generally just take a new route and let it catch up, which it does pretty quickly smile

I will just keep it as it is and delete maps when I have to using my laptop. I will ask on the forum at Here too.

I just need to remember to download voices when I do that too. I was caught out by that this morning.

I've just got round to looking for a forum to raise this issue on but I can't find anything. Am I being stupid?

Will have a look for you, not sure how the Nokia forums got moved around in the purchase by MS.
