Caught doing 120mph on the motorway

I would admit to doing it on the Autobahn, but not in the UK.
Righto, regardless of location, you admit to thinking you were driving at 70-80 mph, but were actually driving at 120 mph?! I think we need a new thread where WinstonWolf posts up every time he gets behind the wheel of the car, giving his planned route, so we can all avoid it, just to be on the safe side.

You're late to the discussion. Luxo barges are designed to insulate you from speed, they simply don't feel fast when they're going quickly. Air suspension, double glazing and big lazy engines means any sensations in the car are reduced. 120 still *feels* like 70 on the inside.
If you're on a deserted unlit motorway at night you have to be *very* careful or you can end up going very fast without realising. Only the scenery and the speedo tell you how fast you're going, the vehicle itself feels no different to if you're travelling at the legal limit.
I'm sure my Griff and the M3/GTR feel very similar at speed, you absolutely know you're travelling. In the barge, you don't.
But the scenery is always there, it's always a reference point t amd so. By definition you should always know what your speed is give or take a small amount. You'll certainly know that you're well over the speed limit. If you're on a deserted unlit motorway at night you have to be *very* careful or you can end up going very fast without realising. The offer to show you how it's possible still stands. In the right car with the right conditions you can't accurately gauge speed without looking at the instruments.
Yes you can. Blue lights flashing behind = over 80mph and telegraph poles turn into a wooden fence = over 120mph. Oh and someone blocking the middle lane with an empty lane to the left = 70mph.Zod, well done!

If you changed that you to an I, people might get what you're saying a bit better.I wouldn't be surprised if R1Loon and Youngsyr can accurately judge their speed just by looking out of the window (ie, no other information to go on). They seem unable to believe that some people can't do that though.
What's the point of a speedo if everybody can judge their speed accurately just by looking at the scenery?

I was in court a few months back got stopped at 110mph, got myself a brief and mitigation was I needed my license for work. I received 6 points and a fine. If your mitigation is good you will keep your license, I dressed smart and apologised directly to the magistrate through a letter of apology. The worst part is waiting for the court case try not to worry.
Well, this thread took an unexpected turn towards stupidity.
Did someone really not only use their car, but then borrowed their mates car, to do something illegal to prove to someone he's never met, in an argument that doesn't matter, and which has no bearing on the reason for the thread, that he's wrong?
Why?
Because internet!

Good answer, we're having a debate and you're too think to join in with anything of substance, so to throw your use of capital letters back at you, FOI have no interest in taking part in these "one upmanship" arguments, and it does get a trifle irritating when we all have to filter through all the complete bks to get to rest of the thread.
And, if you are better at reading than spelling, you will notice that i already have made an, albeit small, but very relevant contribution to the thread.

Unfortunately what loon thinks is a debate, most people think is a futile pissing contest.
Quick, quick there's a bandwagon to be jumped on. Pardon me for disproving a load of the crap that gets posted on here about how amazingly fast some cars are. Apologies to those who are offended by me doing that, maybe you could all accuse me of having no mechanical sympathy as that seems to be the latest bullst bingo phrase on here.

Soon it'll be "Electronic empathy" due to all the new fangled systems we have in newer cars.
