"Customers of British sports cars know that TVRs are fast, but nobody could have anticipated how quickly prospective customers would jump at the opportunity to buy one. Yet that's precisely what the resurgent automaker says is going on.
Less than a month since the revived operation announced new deals in place with Cosworth and Gordon Murray Design to bring its upcoming sports car to fruition, TVR has confirmed an influx of inquiries from eager customers. Their checkbooks are open and they're ready to place their orders early – not only sight unseen, but without any firm details or design revealed. And TVR is happy to oblige.
The British automaker is opening its order books for deposits, taking down payments in the amount of £5,000 – equivalent to over $7,800 at current exchange rates. That'll get prospective customers a slot on the list for the first of the as-yet unrevealed sports cars to be produced. The company is also giving priority to the TVR Car Club, now celebrating its 50th anniversary, members of which will only have to put down £2,500 (~$3,900) to get a pre-order in early.
"We've been totally blown away by the reaction to the new car," said TVR's John Chasey in the statement below. "Our phone lines and online enquiry system went into meltdown when the news was announced, and we decided that we must begin to bring a structure to the enquiries and build a delivery pipeline well in advance of production. Volumes in year one will be limited as we ramp up production, so this allows us to reward those individuals prepared to make a financial commitment at this early stage." ,

I guess this is a case of `put your money where your mouth is ?`
I have been a Cerb owner for 11 years and would dearly love to see TVR succeed and have registered interest in the new car on the TVR website.
I just think that this is a little premature, we don't know what the car will look like, what the spec will be and the cost of it,a few more details need releasing I think before money is committed.....this smacks of the Jaguar XJ220 debacle somewhat.
I am contemplating buying a F Type Jaguar...I have been contemplating this for the last year.....but now I`m tempted by the new TVR.....but not enough to `put my money where my mouth is yet` !

"The first car will be a closed coupe followed by a convertible 'in the summer'" was what les said to me when I interviewed him for Sprint.So yes but not straight away, so you could always put a deposit down on a convertible but it won't be one of the first cars but it could be one of the first convertibles.
Some interesting comments on here TVR owners talking about common sense?? I've always thought the passion TVR owners have for their cars is only exceeded by their unwavering ability to justify all things TVR by the diligent application of man maths, and the highly competent use of smoke and mirrors when the other half somewhat mistakenly suggests the TVR might be replaced by something newer

...and I'm in too ....will hopefully have more info on the 7th ...but for £2500 I'm happy to reserve my place .

in the flesh ...a 2015 RHD Mustang ...but the TVR doesn't even exist yet in a drawing we can see ......but it feels good ...and right.
So, maybe looking forward to 2 Coyote V8's .....should be fun.

, but I don't see this as a good bet until there's a factory well into its commissioning phase.I can see some of the new models changing hands for more than list price new after a couple of years of production.... supply and demand and all that.... particularly after the wealthy brigade realise New TVR doesn't drive itself on their behalf
