I can see some of the new models changing hands for more than list price new after a couple of years of production.... supply and demand and all that.... particularly after the wealthy brigade realise New TVR doesn't drive itself on their behalf biggrin

(well that's what we want to believe here in Chilli world)
Can't see it myself especially if they are looking to build thousands of units, clever money will be spent on the last cars built in Blackpool that were built in very limited numbers.

And you're basing that theory on what exactly? Yes it could be a great car and lets hope it is but equally it could be a big disappointment.

Chilli spot on with that observation yes

I remember when the Griff came out, loads of company MD's leasing their Griff's in 1992. They spent most of the time at TVRCC meetings slagging off the build quality, and moaning about water leaks. Later it was the same with Chim's . Most of the Muppets had come from German power. I really hope history doesn't repeat it self. smile

Good luck with your Chilli world. Whatever the quote there is huge potential for losses IMO.

Hope I'm wrong.

If the deposit is refundable then who cares? Lob a fiver in and if you don't like it then trade your slot if there is demand or take the money back. And if you do like it then you'll have the fun of driving one of the first ones. Bearing in mind that this car will be one of the most exciting comebacks for many years.

The cost is bank interest on £5k over two years versus being first in line and in the loop. You'd have to be a lobotomised librarian or MG officiando to find 2%/annum on £5k the more interesting. wink

Non refundable deposit - no point is there??

It's nice to see folk carried away by the marketing.

But if it were a commitment (non refundable) rather than a pub bragging jesture, would there be as many "committed" folk.

Looks like there's some truly discerning punters on here who know a good thing when they see it.

That being the case I have recently acquired some special beans. I can't say too much at this stage but they have certain properties that will deliver a certain result that will make everyone involved very rich. I'm not prepared to discuss the exact properties of the beans or when I will be actually delivering the first batch to the lucky investors but I think I've told you enough to make it clear that I am well versed in the matter of magic beans and can be trusted with your money. At this stage I'm going to be very particular about who I let have access to the beans. I'm going to restrict supply strictly to those believers who send me a cheque (or cash - used non sequential bills only please) by way of an initial deposit for 5000 pounds.

Mail your cheques (made out to cash) or cash to;

Unreps Magic Beans Ltd
PO Box 666
Geneva
Switzerland

I'll be in touch once enough lucky customers have signed up.

Unrep's magic beans ltd make no representation, verbally or otherwise to the quality or otherwise of any beans that may or may not exist and do not undertake to deliver said beans at any time now or in the future. All deposits are final, no refunds. In the event of any dispute contracts are executed in Somalia and any dispute arising thereof will be heard and settled in the court of Judge Unrepuncle in Mogadishu.

Could imagine you having a sense of humour by-pass but not a sense of reality op TOVIE? smile

Must admit I've not written off the thought of a deposit, but it's very much dependent on the result of my investment in Unreps beans...

Just be patient John. Like I told you, as soon as my partners, Bernie (Madoff) and Tim (Durham) get back with the first batch of beans the good times will roll!

Rich, these beans won't make you fart. You might choke on them but.......

I rarely get involved with any kind of debate but i couldnt resist shoot

At the end of the day, and i know its very much down to an individuals circumstance, but to the target market they are aiming at hitting a 2500 deposit (or even 5000) isnt much of a loss and lets be honest, its their best way of measuring proper interest to buy. We can all sit and say we are interested and register for emails and talk on here... But until anyone puts money forward in good faith then the interest can all just be that... interest. Until the 7th its just been someone elses money working towards a dream im sure a lot of people want to happen.

In regards to performance and car beating... why not dream. They have the chance to start from scratch and build a raw power vehicle almost. ITs whats expected of a TVR nowadays. Most car manufacturers would have to worry about every part of the design to the nth degree to please the biggest possible market... (baby seats, sat nav, air con, ride comfort, interior noise) these guys can do as they please and make the most of it i would like to think.

I think good on the guys who decided to put faith in themselves and have a go at restarting an awesome british car brand... I think its great that people are willing to back this by putting their money down too. Wheres the use in being negative about it? Unless you want the brand to fail. If you say your being realistic... then hey... your glass sounds rather half empty to me... Get another round in or call it time beer

Anyways, im going back to the dark realms of my mind tumbleweedgetmecoat

Any thoughts on interior? I would love to see the continuation of the nice leather simple style with a few quirks in controls or layout.

Agreed! I've dipped into this thread from time to time....and you know by page (N) it will be the same old vitriol.

Let the folks who want to, and have the spare cash sign up - but don't slag their finance acumen for doing so.

I wish Les and his team all the very best!
