Hello folks! New to this forum!

Ok so I recently (3/4 weeks ago) bought a 2009 Audi tts...didn't know much about the car when I got it except it was pretty quick!!
When I got the car the "turbo" seemed to kick in at around 5000rpm, which I now know is not right and should start at 2000, then full boost at 3000rpm! Has anyone else ever encountered this problem ? Every time I drive the car 70% it will work fine then when you don't expect it the turbo won't kick in untill at least 5000rpm or sometimes even not at all!
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Who cares about the turbo when you've got a reg like that?

There are loads of things it could be. You need to scan for fault codes, ideally with VCDS or similar.

It could be as simple as the diverter valve (xheap and easy fix) or it could be the turbo itself (not so cheap).

Cheers mate, have you ever drove one ? I have to pay for the scan myself then hopefully the AA warranty will cover for the work! This is my first turbo car so I'm new to this sort of thing, but something has to be wrong if sometimes it just doesn't kick in untill your near the redline!

If it's stock and not broken then power delivery should feel very linear from somewhere around 2k.

Power delivery in mine was very linear and very predictable. If it isn't then perhaps it was modded badly at some point, or there is indeed a fault.

Jump onto Audi-sport.net (tts or S3) section, you'll get loads of help and probably someone with VCDS local to you - it's generally accepted that a few beer tokens between fellow owners is the going exchange rate.

As said earlier, it could be something v simple.... Luck!

Is there anyway to check if it has been modded or chipped before ? Thanks!

Also the exhausts pipes are pretty black, 50,000 miles on it, is that normal ?

One more question mate, since you also has a tts... If you plant your foot down should that effect when the turbo kicks in, compared to easing the accelerator down ?? As if implant my foot down that's when the turbo doesn't work aswell as if go gradually... Cheers

Yep. Probably one set more black than the other as well.
