Have you ever just thought 'sod it' and bought a car?
Discussion
Yup, just this yr infact. Stopped another expensive hobby and was toying with the idea of a nice car (my DD is a £400 Mondeo) then a Cooper S JCW came up on ebay. Within two days I'd looked at it and put a deposit down.
When it's paid off in 2 yrs I'm considering a Maserati 4200 GT...!

No idea what I was thinking, TBH. Still got it 18 months later, but willing to let it go if I can find someone with a similar 'devil may care' attitude. Or more money than sense, anyway....
I.don't know what it is, but I do know that I need it. Shame I haven't got anywhere to put it. Although, there is a specialist near me with a large empty garage. What exactly is it? Chopped and channeled beetle with some small block? Is there a thread anywhere on it?
Yep, four times lol
First was a black Subaru impreza Litchfield Type25 mk1
Then it was a blue Subaru impreza Litchfield Type25 mk2
Then a Nissan r35 GTR and the latest was a few weeks ago when just looking around bmw dealership decided to test drive an M6 and ordered a shiny new M5 that arrives in a few weeks 😁

This....
Pure impulse purchase - saw it on the dealer's website, called to make sure it was in stock, drove to the dealer, test-drove it, had a bit of argy-bargy over the price - drove it home. All in an afternoon.
No regrets whatsoever - it has surpassed all of my expectations, so far.

That's chuffin' awesome. What is something like that to drive?
I received some inheritance nearly 2 years ago, and before the wife found out how much it was (and whether it would go towards the mortgage) I had a shortlist of 550 Maranello's made, a PPI arranged, and a holding deposit at a dealer on my ideal spec
TBF she didn't give me any grief, even when the first service was over £4k

Car is brilliant and everything I hoped for. Only regret is its a truck load of cash, I am scared to use it on track and think what else I could of wasted the money. J Maybe should of got an Elise, Exige or Caterham and gone sprinting.

Was under orders to buy a C-Max for my pregnant wife. Had 7k burning a hole in my pocket.
Took a train to Carlisle from Portsmouth and bought a 147 GTA.
Didn't get any dinner that night.
I like your style. Everybody has got to have an Alfa. I had one, a 156 selespeed. Mrs Gambo got stranded at the lights in the middle of Bath, no gears, kids in the back. Returned to Cardiff on a low loader.Took a train to Carlisle from Portsmouth and bought a 147 GTA.

Funny, I didn't get any tea that night either.
Bought a motorbike with the first big bit of money I made. Total impulse, walked into the dealer, paid, left, and then slept on the sofa for four days. Sold it recently, sad times. Loved it to bits, even if I spent more time than is sensible going sideways on wet cobbles.
Then my grandmother left me a bit of cash, my mum said it was to buy something nice for myself. Saw a one owner left-hand drive 205 GTi in the classifieds that day, for almost exactly that amount. It was a sign. Thought about the difficulties, thought "sod it", negotiated briefly, then booked a one-way train ticket and the Eurotunnel. It all worked out in the end.

Driving home from magistrates court having defended myself, got an acquital and rather upset the traffic cop when he ws in the witness box.
Decided a red 1986 alfa gtv6 would be to easy for them to seek revenge, stopped at a BMW dealership and bought a used M5. Turned out one of the dealership staff bought the alfa and was stopped 6 times in the first 2 months he had it
wish I still had either of them now
