Replacing Garage Doors
Discussion
I have a detached double garage with two single garage doors. One of the garage doors is broken and needs to be replaced. I want to replace the two garage doors with a single one. There is a wooden post between the two garage doors, although it is not structural and there is a RSJ across the whole width of the opening.
There are two options, either roller type or panel type. The opening witdh is around 14 foot and the height around 7 foot (I can get the exact dimensions if needed).
I have just had a quote (I am going to get more) for £2,600 fully fitted for a panel door. I am told the roller door is a similar price. Both would be electrically operated. Does this sound about right price wise, I did think it was a touch expensive ? Would be interested to hear what others have paid for a similar size ? Any issues between panel or roller ?
Hoping to then get a classic car to go in the garage !

It sounds a bit pricey to me, I think mine was 10 x 6 and cost £1,500 fitted, although I seem to remember doors above 10' got more expensive.
I've just ordered a sectional hormann door (10ft x 7ft) with a matching Hormann personal door. This, fitted with two remote controls & a panel inside the garage has come in at £2312.Cheers,
Phill
Edited to add I have the hormann price list at home if it helps...

I paid about £2200 very recently for a "Securoglide" roller door, insulated, remote operated.
Apparently these are the danglies.
There are cheaper options around but the guys I used answered the phone and turned up to quote, which was more than can be said for half a dozen other places I tried to get to take my money!

I'm waiting for a cardale door fitted to my new build (ish) garage. It is identical as you described OP, 7ft4 x 14ft6 something and having it just inside of the pillars - maximum width at a cost of maybe 6inches of depth. Wooden centre post (non structural) and rsj already in place.
£1950 for fully fitted, full insulated, white sectional panels, door is 10 year warranty, motor is 5 years, moving bits is 2 years etc etc all good stuff. Fitted in 3 weeks.
Was £1800 but we had a bathroom go wrong so had to delay ordering by 2 months, by which time prices has gone up. Guy was utterly brilliant when he came out, and really patient and non-pushy ,spent ages chatting with me over everything... All on a Saturday afternoon after they had technically closed.
They were elite garage doors Midlands.
