Sat in Dunstable watching an amazing thunderstorm - anyone else getting some excitable weather tonight?

Weather said my area (Swansea) was supposed to have huge thunderstorms etc
Only had a down pour that lasted a very short while, still very warm outside.
Quite nice to walk around in warm rain.

No thunder though, shame.

Storms have just started over Gloucester, impressive lightning and downpours.

Rain so heavy (or hail) that it's set off a car alarm in the street, near-continual lightning and thunder loud enough to keep everyone awake!

We had almost constant lightning but not a lot in the way of loud noises. 7/10 because of all the fork lightning.

My partner's dog is crying every time the lightning flashes, poor thing.

Partner indeed, I do not know in this enlightened age why a chap cannot just say he is seeing another chap instead of the cloaking and dagger partner nonsense.

Impressive light show here in Aylesbury, can't remember the last time I saw so much lightning.

Decided against sitting in the downpour, thankfully that only lasted 2 minutes.

The OH thinks I'm odd for enjoying this.

"Partner" is perfectly acceptable for either gender. "Girlfriend" works when you're young, but there comes a point when calling someone your "girlfriend", for whatever reason, just seems a bit weird.

How old are you, out of interest?

You're in for heavy intermittent rain for about another hour I think. I thought the storm was passing but still got more thunder and rain!

Oh I see, you're one of those new 'funny' accounts. Never mind.

Lots of flashes here in south Essex. I think it has been skirting a bit west of us, more over towards East London.

Pretty impressive, although haven't seen much fork lightning.

Good point - I never know what to call him. He's far too old and hirsute to be a boyfriend, but 'partner' sounds a bit business-like. 'Current victim' seems accurate. biggrin

And Hermann the German does like goat curry.

Weather update - still lots of lightning but oddly not much thunder. Not raining. Victim snoring. Dog asleep. biggrin

Spectacular whilst it lasted. Skies all clear now with bright nearly full Moon over my part of Gloucester.
