According to the official UKIP & Daily Mail book of little rants, in the section dealing with racial stereo types, the car-washers are Romanians, therefore not illegal

As Stuntman Mike points out, its not really such a common thing. If it were it wouldn't be news.

But it does give some people the excuse to get upset about some people who have had a really crap start in life trying their hardest to do something better for their children by trekking half way around the world and risking their life along the way in order to get some rubbish job on minimum wage in a country where they hope that at least if someone persecutes them for their religion it at least won't be the government. As opposed to some of our homegrown professional idlers who would rather claim benefit then go to the end of their street find low paid work and claim discrimination that there aren't suitable jobs for people who turn up to interviews in a string vest and swear at the interviewer

I am all for immigration, but done correctly.

Give them jobs, but make sure the fat Uk residents cannot/wont do it first, and if they refuse, dock the benefits
They have to have paid a minimum NI before claiming free NHS, have enough money to return whence they came should they so desire, have accomodation already arranged.be Fluent in English, and advised that if convicted of an imprisonable offence, deportation is mandatory.

Rather like Oz,and several other countries who do have laws about immigration.
BUT not to claim housing etc like a lot of them at Calais will do.
There are a lot of residents hers who are on their uppers and could do with what is being handed out to them, but are just tossed aside

In thirty years time we'll look back in amazement and ask, why did our politicians, our 'leaders' betray their people so badly, and so absolutely......Of course the youngsters will have been brought up to this shambles, brainwashed and not knowing any better, and will look on us then as doddery old right wing fools.

A Haulage firm has been fined for having illegals in one of his lorrys

The fine has been imposed by HM Customs/UK Border Force, who primary job is to stop them getting in in the first place.
nice place this country,
you get stitched up by the organisation who cant do their job properly
This is only slightly true, but lets not let that get in the way of a good story wink

They will not give fines if the driver took reasonable precautions - IE locked his trailer, reported any suspect activity etc. It is there to punish drivers who knowingly bring illegal migrants into the country, not to fine those who have a knife slash down the trailer or 2 Somalians sat on the axle.

Considering the mess in Calais at the moment I doubt many fines are being given out. It wouldnt look great for the government.

And a note on the wider problem - these guys have literally nothing, and when you have nothing to lose, you take any risks you can to better yourself. We really dont appreciate how lucky we are to even be born here, let alone any other opportunities we get because of living in the UK. Considering it was the Western powers which destabilised the Middle East in the first place, we have to accept some responsibility for cleaning up the mess, which at the moment looks a million miles away. Blair has a lot to answer for should the courts ever catch up with him...

Without turning this into too much of an immigration debate, if you're so desperate to escape oppression and flee to the evil west, isn't it a bit weird that you'd pass through most of Europe and rather than give it a go somewhere you would choose to live at Sangate?

I don't understand that.

For a country that invaded and colonised half the planet it's ironic we moan about immigrants so much...

Only if you're silly enough to think that's directly comparable.

Do things have to be directly comparable to be ironic (or even slightly humorous?).

It was a light comment, no need for twisted knickers.

More people can get by with English than Spanish, French, Italian, German etc

Can you imagine a hand car wash owned/run/and manned by English men, you would pay double, the job would be ste, it would be hit and miss whether it was open and you would be there all day.
We have one in our town. Local Valeting company set it up as there has never been a hand car wash in the town. The do a brilliant job with all local staff and only charge £1 more than the next nearest Albanian run place about 6 miles away.

Worrying about illegals getting in I suppose takes our minds off the same kind that already are in and breeding like rabbits.

The British political establishment cannot give the full truth about immigration and never will.

Lap up life and enjoy it while it`s good because it WILL change. And before any apologist leftie says I`m doom mongering think about this. Back in the 60s and 70s, many people scoffed at the notion that London could ever be majority non-white. But today it is.

Just saying.

Has it changed that much since the 2011 census then?

Vote UKIP. Jeremy Clarkson for prime minister. Put the 'Great' back in Britain.

Errr, I'll add more when I can think of it.
