While cleaning up the wishbones and chassis - came across this little rubber part (with metal insert) anchored amongst the hoses etc (off-side rear).
Anyone able to tell me whether its off the Griff please, or may simply have bounced from the roadside and got anchored - forgot to check any suspect areas before I put the wheels back on!

Thanks

It looks like its the inner part of the fuel pump mount rubbers.

Excellent - thank you kindly! Will have a root around on the underside this morning.

Well looks like part of the upper threaded bar that is welded to the chassis frame had snapped off (probably corrosion, looking at th state of the lower intact fixing). The washers and nut that secure the top bracket fixing of the fuel pump were obviously missing also. Forgive the state of the chassis - its being systematically cleaned and teated at the moment. Luckily mount had lodged in the locality to bring attention to something amiss.

Thank you again ch427.

Below - the redline indicates the missing threaded bar as a continuation of the welded part. Of course the reline would go through the middle of the rubber mounts, just that the bracket (and fuel pump) have dropped slightly, so the alignment if off.

Temp fix for the moment with trusty cable ties!

Why is the top part of the bracket gone ? (grinded, or worse, abraided ?)

That's a very good point - should be a clear chamfer each side.
No reason for anyone grinding I would have thought - so that may leave abrasion as a possible! The bracket is fairly rigid - diffcult to move by hand, though engine vibrations could do some damage.
Thanks - will further investigate.

After some more investigation- the top of the bracket is indeed hammered down - and looking at the profile it appx matches the diff arm radius (last pic).
The top of the bracket is now a T in section. There is a little scrape on the diff edge underside which coincides with the bracket.
However given the distance between the diff part and the bracket, it is difficult to imagine the pump / bracket assembly moving (vibrating) that much, particularly given that the central bolt in the bracket (which clamps down on the pump) is firmly fixed - and the lower bracket mounting is also firmly fixed - and I don't think the diff moves.

How long the bracket has been like that is anyone's guess. Given the amount of caked on grime removed from the chassis it may not have been checked for some time. In whatever capacity its vibrating, a cable tie or two is not going to solve anything.

Note the flat welded to the frame (which mirrors the bracket flat) is also hammered(?)

I think the treaded rod has fractured under the load of this 'abrasion'. Have you checked whether the bushes of the diff/brackets are still intact (which could cause the diff the move) ?

I often wonder why you would put a fuel pump in that location but nothing suprises me with a TVR!

The gap between the diff & damaged bracket looks too large for "normal" contact. I wonder if the previous owner had a serious diff bush collapse or something got caught etc
