Hi all,

This is probably a long shot but a good friend of mine is getting married in the area (Ascot and Sandhurst (Military academy) ) She'd like a supercar for a wedding car. There are lots of hire companies but theire minimum periods mean it'll cost her thousands for using it when she only needs it for a couple of hours.

So I said I'd see if anyone was interested on here. Ideally they'd like to be able to drive it themselves. They'll pay for all costs. (Fuel, insurance etc)

If anyone is interested I'll put you in touch. I understand people generally aren't happy about others driving their cars but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Otherwise if anyone knows any local companies that will hire one out self drive for a couple of hours rather than a couple of days!

Thanks

I don't know of any companies that could do this. Trouble is it's the Insurance costings.

The minute you you use the car for Hire or Reward your standard insurance will not cover you, you have to take out a different insurance. Some car owners have come unstuck with this doing school prom runs wink

Only way I think you may have any chance is to contact a Supercar Dealer, they may have a "Customer Test Drive insurance"

You might be able to use a car for a couple of hours but its a big ask!

Hi, I don't know if it helps, but I have a 1965 S Type Jaguar that could be used for the wedding, although I will have to drive it for insurance purposes.

If this is of interest please call me on: 07595 756269

Thanks, Mike.

Hi,

Thanks for all the replies so far. I'm not actually certain of the date (Probably should have checked first!) but I've just messaged her to ask.

I've also passed on the replies so far to Sophie. Thanks again everyone, I'll post when she lets me know the date. smile

Something tells me you won't find a rich supercar owner who will let you have his pride and joy for the w/end.
This is a proper supercar hire company. http://www.lamborghinicarhire.co.uk/car-hire-fleet... and they are in your area.Just look at their list of cars, and the prices!!! £10K deposit £800 a day for a Ferrari??
They are not very practical for people all dressed up in glad rags??

Yeah I wasn't really expecting to but I said I'd ask for her in case. I think that supercar hire company was one they'd looked at and it was expensive when they only need it for a couple of hours. It was going to be Groom to the church and then bride and groom to the reception. Thanks for all the replies. smile

Have you tried Hertz at Heathrow for a day?

They have a DB9, Conti GT, SL63 etc.

No idea as to prices but hopefully three figures.

I do think it's a bit odd that people ask to borrow an expensive high performance car - presumably that they have absolutely no experience of driving - from a complete stranger. I wonder how they'd react if a stranger knocked on their door and asked to borrow their car for half a day?

As an alternative suggestion, you might have more chance getting two super cars. One to drive the groom and one to drive the bride.

I appreciate they wan't to drive it themselves, but the impact of pulling up to the reception one behind the other would be very cool also.

I wasn't really expecting anyone to say yes but she was asking if anyone knew anyone so I thought I'd ask in case. Had some great suggestions about other hire options too so it was worth asking. smile

Thanks all.

Edit: thought I'd add that although you all obviously don't know her, she is quite well known to me (for several years!) and isn't going to drive off in it never to be seen again! wink I wouldn't have asked for some random. But as I said above, it was just a "doesn't hurt to ask in case" post rather than a "Expecting Supercars to be coming from everywhere" post wink
