Pininfarina - what was their best design?

Mind boggling how many brands they worked with. What is your favourite design?

The Ferrari 250GT is a lovely looking motor to my eyes. I really like the Fiat Coupe too - a weird one perhaps, I know, but I think it looks great, although I'm not too sure how much they had to do with that one, as I'm sure Chris Bangle was involved too.

Top one is neat and good looking, bottom one is dreadful, looks like it's melted.

406 coupe is a really good looking car. The four door is a turd. If you want a lesson in the thin line between great and gopping, look at those two and doff your caps to the coupe's designers.

In the world of the bog standard, Pug 406 'Coop for me. Honourable mention to the Fiat Coupe.

In the exotics, I think you do have to go a long way to beat the Ferrari Enzo.

For me, the Ferrari 288 GTO is my favourite Pininfarina design and fave Fezza too. In everyday cars I think the 406 Coupe was a stunning looker, shame about FWD, but despite this, the very cheap 3L V6s available are rather tempting

Nipipfarina designed the Matrix, fact. Error in translation at Hyundai there (a bit like the looks of it).

Slightly off-topic in that it's clearly not Pinins' 'best design', but another mention for the 406 coupe here.

Great point re the 'turd' saloon/ pretty coupe thing- good demonstration of what they can do.

Had the 406 coupe not worn a Peugeot badge Im sure it would have been more highly regarded (duh). And no, I've never owned one- or any other Peugeot for that matter.

Regularly have sheddy thoughts about a tidy 3.0 V6, almost purely based on aesthetics (and price!).

1963 Corvette Rondine for me is a prime example of how a car 'should have' looked:



Makes the 'Vette look beautiful in a way that the Yanks just couldn't have pulled off.

Prettier in the same sense that a sultry Italian girl in a LBD (preferably smoking a thin cigarette and drinking a glass of red outside a cafe) is more appealing than a corn-fed Mid-West girl in a pair of Daisy Dukes (imho).

Slightly unfair as the MG was a design from the 30s.
But generally they have to be the most consistently good styling house ever.

Definitely the 288; utterly stunning in every way. No stupid massive wheels either.

The 456GT. It's the most well-packaged 2+2 ever. It still makes me weak when I see it now.

Great design, but it's amazing how older cars look so under wheeled nowadays.
