Battery

been away on holiday and trickle charged by my V8V with solar power charger. Came home and battery flat, fuse has one in boot socket. Put my CTec charger on today and went back and only first two orange lights lit up and a red light in the top left-hand corner. Website says this light comes on when the connectors to battery Are fitted the wrong way round. Have checked and these were correct. Any other reason why the red light will come on and not charge?

In case I have to jump start it is their right or wrong way to do this as I have heard that one could damage the car if not done correctly?

To jumpstart connect the leads to the points under the bonnet, not direct to the battery. See book of words.
