That made me laugh out loud, sorry Alun. paperbag
Nothing to be sorry about, it'll take me until the summers over to get a licence!

I've always thought I should take my test but a bike has never come along that's really had me wanting too get on the road but now I'm booking my self up furiously smile
I had race licences but never fancied a bike on the road.

Yes it's a bit daft to get the bike Before the licence but this way I'll def do it!
I can also fettle and add a few things to it,

I've needed a bike in my life for ages now, smile

This things nice and easy to understand and simple to work on.

I'd only spend the money on Holidays so I thought I'd invest in this instead, TT will be my holiday on the bike smile

A wonderful moment happened,,, I removed the chain guard and both retaining screws had copper slip on them, respect to the chap who built my bike. yes

As I've said previously my car is in a que so I've been getting to know this piece of modern art,,,

I can look at it for hours hehe

Alun, saw your Chim this morning, at least it's made it into the workshop ! I was hoping to get mine back inside a fortnight but that may be a little optimistic frown but at least it'll be well & truly sorted biggrin

I'd left my car at a mates place for a couple or three weeks,, bloody filthy!

I thought the time scale for yours was a bit optimistic ! frown

Mine might be ready by sept !! Joke,,,, hopefully it'll be a bit before then.

Sorry Alun didn't have time to have a look around, at your car or anything else for that matter, daughter had driven over from Wellingborough (bless her heart) to pick me up and she needed to get back pronto for work. The time frame for really just depends on how much needs doing but I will be going with the uprated MBE system that Jay was talking to me about, although I can't remember what model he called it.

Fingers crossed for a decent turn round for both of us.

Looks like I'll be adding forged pistons & rods to the list (some apparent damage to one piston) but to be honest I was inclined to go down this route in any case.

Ignition control on the dizzy not what it could have been? Who'd have thunk it... whistle

Why change the rods? Not exactly the weak point on a 4.5/4.6 confused

The only thing I'm really surprised about Gary is that it took you this long to make that comment !rolleyes

With regards to the rods, no decisions yet, just waiting for some results from the strip down and another chat with Dom.

I will of course soon have a well used distributor, coil, AFM, Stepper motor etc. etc. for sale if you're interested wink

So a rebuilds on the cards then Richard.
Mine might be done before yours then,,,, if it is I'll pop over and let you have a look see and a drive out to see how it performs.

I'm mostly at my mums at the mo ( no internet )

I think they might be starting my installation late next week,
I'm expecting pics so for anyone else considering moving on from the disi then I'll post them as and when they arrive.
Can't freaking wait smile

Very interested in this - ECU is pretty much the last mod I want to do on the Chim and Powers MBE is favourite at the moment. Taraka engine is still in warranty so think I'm kinda limited anyway if I want to retain peace of mind.

Costs aside my concerns are what actual gains I would see from going MBE (power and reliability) since it already goes like stink and has been (touches wood) very reliable.

Hope all goes well for you Alun thumbup

Hi Swanny, gains, mostly more reliability and better fuelling at any revs, ditch the stepper and all those other little wiring gremlins that show up from time to time. Maybe better fuelling at the top end but I'm not expecting massive power or economy gains but it should be more responsive etc. clean wiring and better connections and a new main power lead to starter are also part of my deal, only time will tell but I'm very confident this will be the last time for some years I'll be thinking about fuelling or ignition issues.

I'll keep everyone posted smile

It's very unlikely you'll be disappointing on all counts, most importantly you'll be getting the control & flexibility the 14CUX locks you out of.

Better still you will have vastly improved ignition.

As basic and restrictive as it is, the 14CUX actually makes a reasonable fist of the fueling when working correctly, what it doesn't do is tie up the fueling with the ignition.

This is the key weakness on any standard Chimaera.
