Hi. We're considering a family holiday (2 adults, 1 toddler) to Denmark, the first 2 weeks of September. However there are loads of cabins/holiday homes that all look good value, but I have absolutely no knowledge of where to go and what to do, other than a few days in Copenhagen. We'd prefer to be near the coast in a smaller town or village, with some touristy stuff nearby. I'm currently looking in the North Zealand area but am totally open to ideas.

Any suggestions?
Cheers

Spent a very nice holiday near Ebeltoft in Jutland in a villa which was better equipped and half the price of anything we could find in France. Is in a pretty area of Denmark called Djursland and Mols with gently rolling hills and lots of small towns, fishing villages, beaches etc. Lots of things to see (Aarhus, Ebeltoft, frigate Jylland, castles, Regenskov Rainforest zoo, aquariums etc and within about 1.5 hours of the West Jutland beaches at Lokken and the Rubjerg Knude lighthouse (google it). Was also within a reasonable drive from Legoland (which is miles better than the English one).
Think we booked through this lot

or it might have been this lot (who we've also used in Spain

Jutland is nice, if you get decent weather (the climate is broadly similar to the UK)

Try and stay near the coast, or near a large lake.

Not cheap however. Nowhere in Denmark is..!

Booze is expensive. Food is about the same. If going self-catering then accomodation is pretty cheap for what you get, if outside Danish school holidays (from 3rd week in August onwards). I'd say it works out about the same as holidaying in the UK (which, to be fair, is more expensive than Southern Europe) plus the cost of getting there, provided you're not too thirsty!.

I had a weeks holiday in Bornholm two years back.

It was like Utopia. No graffiti, no litter, nothing out of order, no parasitic third world immigrants. No slums, no vandalism, no junkies and only friendly faces happy to assist tourists.

The way things should be really. Probably makes me a Nazi or racist or whatever. Not really caring tbh. Lovely place and I will go back one day.
