I have just done a deal on this:

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C631970

I always enjoy something a bit different, I have had some spare cash burning a hole for a bit and having bounced around with various thoughts on what to buy next I came across this by chance.

As a modified car I know it won't be to everyone's taste, and to be honest those front seats may need to go, however as a classic Q car I thought it might be fun.

What do you think?

I just hope the mods mean that the car won't roll over like they all did in the 60's. That rear suspension was lethal. But it looks a great car and a bucket load of fun and I hope it gives you much pleasure.

I'll mail you my phone number, and (as long as work doesn't get in the way) I'll come up to Antwerp to see it. Will you be driving it back?

Almost perfect - ditch the seats, that horrendous exhaust and the dash-top gauges and it'll be spot-on. Love it!

Excellent purchase, well done.

Not sure about this bit though: "With auxiliary gauges with are nicely integrated in the dashboard"

I can't see those nicely integrated auxiliary gauges, but I can see a nasty ill-fitting black plastic domed pod held on by a couple of self-tappers!

If that isn't a riot to drive I'd be amazed- lots of left field points with a car like that.

Gnnng. Excuse me a minute, I need to go and change my trousers.

Agree entirely about the gauges/back box/seats, though - everything else is just perfect.

I'm really pleased to read such positive reaction, I thought there might be a few voices bemoaning the lack of originality! It hit a chord with me the moment I came across the ad. I had been hunting for a V6 Clio, there may be 50 odd years between them but out of the same bonkers school of thought.

It will need a few changes for me, I love the Q car thing, I'm not a fan of "Halfords" add-ons, I'm sure there will be a few things to think about.

Brakes and suspension are upgraded, four speed box is original, how that will cope with the extra HP I guess I will have to wait to see. Three stud wheels I noticed, steering is original. From the close up pictures the paint looks pretty good with just a few small dings, chrome looks good.

I have taken a chance buying it blind however the dealer provided a big file of pictures and co-ordinating with them has been very straightforward so fingers crossed that it is as good as it looks.

Sod originality, that looks great!

I'm with the others about being careful with it in the corners though.

Superb..... My old man had a blue Gordini 62-63 if memory serves. Always had a soft spot for rear engined cars I had Simca Rallye back in the 70's.

My dad had one of these from new and it had a habit of catching fire. Something to do with the carb setup not sure if they all did this, but my Dads did it so regularly he used to carry spare HT leads and other bits to get it going again after.
