Air con repair - Cambridge/Royston/St Neots??
Discussion
I need to get the air con repaired on my Porsche 993.
It's highly unlikely this will not be a simple re-gas as the system in the 993 is 20 years old and they were never renowned for being particularly robustWhen they were new.
Can anybody recommend an air con expert in or around the Cambridge/Royston/St Neots area?
Cheers

I deal with these guys on a daily basis and they get some impressive machinery through the doors.

Thanks Steve. I think I know these guys because I nearly bought a 993 from them couple of years ago.I deal with these guys on a daily basis and they get some impressive machinery through the doors.
Do they actually do air conditioning repairs though? I looked at their website but it seemed like storage was their game rather than mechanics.

I'd be interested in this too, I've never used the aircon in my 91 944 and if it is knackered I'd probably remove the compressor and condenser.
I would check the evaporator if it is broken before you start throwing money at it. Changing the evaporator is by far the most expensive process and the labour cost may not be worthwhile. Evaporator is behind the dash and needs a lot of dismantling. The compressor and condenser is easily accessible relatively speaking so lower labour costs if you only need to change these two parts. You can almost DIY the compressor and condenser and regas the car at kwik-fit.

Thanks for the advice, I don't want to spend a lot of money on the AC as I don't use the car very often in hot weather or slow moving traffic. A diagnostic would be handy to determine what it would cost though.
Then if compressor or condenser only, I would fix it (even DIY). If it is the evaporator, then forget it.Gassing Station | Herts, Beds, Bucks & Cambs | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
