It looks like we might be getting cheaper tax, while people with brand new eco boxes pay like the rest of us.

My understanding of this is:

New city car: £140
New Ford focus etc : Middle rate
New 'Bad for the environment machine' : Higher rate

Old V8: £140

So old V8 will still pay £230 or what ever it is

What I get from the VED reforms is when looking for a new car in 2017 get something fun and sod the CO2 as either way you are likely to be paying £140 per year VED as looking at the BBC image they suggest even cars producing over 255 CO2 still pay £140. A 'premium' rate was suggested but no information around when it kicks in...

Do I keep my Mini Cooper D, rated at £0 (99g CO2), for the long haul on the basis that it might go up in value post reforms?
