Hi Guys
I have owned my Golf GTi mk3 for circa 10 years and it has been fabulous. I took the engine out a couple of years ago as the gearbox was sent for refurbishment and the belts were all done at the same time.

It is serviced every few thousand miles and has been a great work horse. I do not want to scrap it.

I knew from the last MOT that it required some welding before it would pass another MOT. Last night I removed the plastic sill trims and the rot is pretty bad. Each jacking point at the front is holed badly and the front and rear of each sill is rotten.

If I paint the newly welded sills myself what sort of price am I looking at to have the floor welded and 2 new sills supplied and fitted. Please see pics smile

I spent last Saturday washing, claying, polishing and sealing so as you can see it looks good from the top side at least! smile

Not that simple unfortunately.
Invariably the extent will be greater than first thought & won't be revealed until you start taking it apart & cutting rotten metal out - I speak from experience as I do all the welding on our own cars & mine's a RRC!
Needs to be seen by whoever you decide you want to do the work & take it from there.
Probably best looking for recommendations local to you.

Thanks smile

I do have a good local ish bodyshop and will call in to see them over the next few days. I just wanted to have a ball park figure so I know what to expect.

As you can see the car is clean apart from these areas and I do believe that the work is worth doing.

What he said ......

The 'keeping good' of an outer skin and inner workings of a P&J can be far out-weighed by the 'making good' of a neglected underneath.

Good luck.
