Had to change the pads on my R56 MCS today, was told it needed new discs too, which I was a little surprised about. The car has done 37,000mi, would you expect it to need new discs at this point? The car is mostly used on a/B roads and I do like to drive "progressively".

Still, used a specialist Indy and the cost of pads+rotors was only £30 more than just the pads from a main dealer.

Cheers guys

Bump: Any R56 MCS got experience of how long the discs last?

Strangely my rear disks and pads needed replacing at about 37k miles, not sure why they wore first? My front disks and pads need replacing now at 52k miles. I have a Clubman S which is mainly used on A and B road blasts/ commuting - not much stop start though...

When I had my R53 MCS, all pads and disks needed replacing at about 44k miles. It seems common, IME, to replace disks and pads at the same time on MINIs.

Thanks Mike, i have heard that [pads and discs at the same time] from a few other sources too, so it would seem a fairly common thing.

It looks as though the rears will need doing soon too, which is a little annoying! At least it should be a while until they come around again.

I am thinking of doing a few track days with the car, it will be interesting to see how the OEM replacement ( ATE / Pagid ) pads and discs fair up to track work. I may replace next time with some EBC green stuff pads and their dimpled / grooved discs. The discs are black too, which will be an added bonus as i reckon they will look good on my dark car!
