I've just reserved a 7 drawer cabinet and a 6 drawer chest for £150.

My entire garage is being filled with half price stuff from Halfords...

I dont suppose you know if these have the ball bearing runners do you? It doesn't appear to be listed on the web.

Argh damn you! I was looking at this at the weekend and decided I couldnt justify it right now, then you go and post this link and I start thinking "Well i do need a set for the Van for race weekends"

I hope you are happy that I will be sleeping on the sofa for a while and living off beans on toast MR 308! hehe

No, they don't have ball bearing runners which is a real shame. One of the reviews stated that the application of some lubrication makes them quite smooth. The boxes are sitting in my garage at the moment - so I cannot speak from personal experience. I can't unpack them because Mrs 308GTB is buying them for my birthday which isn't for 2 bloody weeks!

That's where I started, I like SGS kit. Halfords actually have their equivalent chest on offer for £75 at the moment. Which I was going to buy, then I saw it's big brother and I was off to the races.

You need to engage the female side of your brain and congratulate yourself on saving £150

The SGS has roller bearings on the drawers, comes with the rubber drawer liners and free delivery. The Halfords ones have none of these features.
SGS is good kit...

Having unpacked the tool chests (yes, it's my birthday...) my verdict is:

They are excellent value for money & are perfect for me.

But as was known
1. They don't have ball bearing drawers - this doesn't in practice make a blind bit of difference to me but I wish they did!
2. They don't come with the internal rubber mats - you really do need these, so I've got to find some sheet rubber (and the stuff I've seen ain't cheap)

The extra £50 for the SGS kit which has the above, looks worthwhile, but since I was originally only going to spend £75 (which crept up to £150), another 50 quid was a bridge too far.

p.s. looks like SGS have withdrawn their special offer on this bundle too...

Rather than start yet another thread on Halfords Tool Cabinets, it seems that there is another offer on. As per the very first post almost 2 years ago, they are non-bearing runners but it might be of interest to someone.
7 Drawer Cabinet for £100
6 Drawer Chest for £50

Rather strangely my trade account are showing these for £240 so best to buy as Joe Public!

I have a halfords non ball bearing toolchest.
Before I put my tools in the drawers, I removed them and greased the runners.
Drawers run very smoothly.

6 drawer tool centre on wheels with large compartment at bottom less than half price. Has ball bearing runners too smile
