Don't know if it helps but just had a pair of AP plates relined. They were 6.3mm thick before and not down to the rivets and 7.7mm after. They work fine and look like the best 90 quid I ever spent after nearly buying a helix clutch.

I use this place.

They did mine in Kevlar as it handles the power better than the normal organic material but it does need to be bedded in for 500 or so miles of gentle driving.

5 days now of stripping this thing down and re-assembling now with no joy. Several calls made to both Helix and TVR Parts...

Helix are saying their only components are the plates and the rest of the actual clutch assembly and that I now have the correct sized plates - effectively point the blame back to the rest of the TVR Parts supplied parts (flywheel, bearings, etc).

TVR Parts are saying there was a problem with their lightened flywheel but that's all good now and are not really giving any more advice.

Neither supplier can produce full clutch assembly drawings or details when requested.

What was Helix's or TVR Parts' retort to Smith's comment that said "Apparently Helix have changed the spec of the assembly ever so slightly." ?
Have you still got your old flywheel to try it with that to try to rule out one of the other variables?

Mines just been fitted with a Helix. The flywheel had to be machined 3 times before it worked properly. Sorry but no idea why, but it was done at Neil Garners. You could ring to ask?
Will this mean all new and correct size Helix units are now undersized in relation to your machined flywheel.

Theres a chance of this, yes, but I've been assured that mine was not one from the affected batch. The reason was because mine being a early car (97) and original it had the early bell housing and a different flywheel and clutch assembly then had been seen before, dowels etc. The bellhousing had been modified to fit this flywheel and clutch assembly.

We considered switching to a new lightened flywheel, but that would have meant also sourcing a different bellhousing, which was proving difficult without paying what I thought was extortionate prices (supply/demand).

In the end it was cheaper and easier to machine the existing flywheel, but took three attempts as they were keen to machine as little as possible.

What I can say if the new clutch assembly as a whole is lighter to use and I don't feel it after a days driving like I did before.
