He,s calling in to see me and Mrs rob in Cwmavon just outside port Talbot and will be doing Afan Argoed an another downhill place in the valleys

Maybe a bit too far, but Llantwit Major and Porthcawl seem to be popular surfing spots.

Not a surfer but from Porthcawl. Most people go to Rest Bay.

I wouldn't bother with Swansea Bay it's as flat as a pancake. I hear Caswell bay is quite good? Llangennith and Rhossili too.

I've been surfing a few times in Llangennith, camp site right by the beach if you need it too.

Caswell is one of my favourite breaks when it's working well. Can be a bit peaky, nice beach car park fills early in the summer.

Another vote for Llangennith. I've not been for a couple of years but that was always the one I went to. Nice long beach so there's a bit more room than some places.

Thanks for the replies so far I will pass them on
Don't think he will mind a bit of travelling considering the mileage he is doing the next month ! Had said to him he would probably have to go to the gower

If he is good, Llantwit Major can be excellent, but it often sucks dry onto bare rock
