Hi all, just a quick one; If you had two DC5's to choose between, both of equal good condition and the same spec, colour and year, which one of these two cars would you go for?

Car 1: Imported in 2009, has 50,000 miles on the clock, of which 20,000 have been driven in the UK.

Car 2: Imported in 2014, has 80,000 miles on the clock, of which 5,000 have been driven in the UK.

Cheers all smile

I can only go on my Skyline, but it was always latest import over mileage, but then it's always condition over mileage. I wouldn't buy a dog even if it had done 2miles over here. How much rust proofing did the 2014 imported DC5 get? Was it stored in winter, or was it waxoyled, does it even matter with a DC5?

If, after test driving them both, you can't feel a difference between them, then I would go for the car with lower miles.

The key thing is to see them both in the flesh and drive if at all possible.

The newer import was undersealed and waxed and loved and cuddled when it arrived in 2014 and has been well looked after. They both drive very much the same, but the higher mileage one is in very slightly better condition and the underside is a lot cleaner.

Think I just have to get over my mental hangup about mileage and I suppose if a car has done 75,000 Jap miles and only 5,000 UK miles, the underside, the mechanicals, corrosion etc should be a lot better condition.

DC5 will rot like hell if it's not been protected properly. Even if it's been done, there are loads of areas that might not have been reached. Underneath bumpers and plastic sill covers, inside front wings and front chassis are all really vulnerable.
