The Tory back benchers were pissing themselves throughout Mcdhead's speech, while the front bench maintained their composure and just sat there paying the rope out.

Corbyn didn't show any support for him whatsoever.

I'll give'em both 12 months, tops.

If this lot manage to last the term we might get some sensible opposition from another party, in which case the amount of cringing we're having to put up with will be well worth it. Unfortunately I suspect they'll be toast well before then.

Seriously though could you see another one party ever having more opposition seats than Labour?

Watching the Parliament goings on last night on TV my wife commented that Labour dress like a bunch of scruffs. I mentioned they are trying to appeal to the working classes in a weak attempt at defending their general scruffiness, but then wondered, what do old people think of comrade Corbyn and his inability to wear a tie properly and stand up straight and show respect? Does he have any old 'voters'?

he asks lots of question but has he actually come out and made any kind of statement about what he wants to do differently. If this is the only alternative to the Conservative Party then heaven help us if we ever need a strong opposition

I know this thread is an anti-Corbyn platform so can be a bit one sided and sometimes brutal. However listening to him today on R4 his main point was for it to be considered whether the proposal to launch airstrikes against so-called Islamic State in Syria "is likely to reduce or increase" their threat to us here.

Why oh why waste effort in an 'open question' without apparently taking it further to give his views. It so wishy washy

Is it a ploy so if it all goes tits up then he can say 'well I asked the question'? Conversely if it goes well he has still saved face. Or is it just finding something to say so it looks like he's part of a decision making process without actually contributing?

I just cant fathom it.

CMD already answered that question correctly, in that we are already in the top tier of targets so faffing around and bimbling along agonising over the precise pecking order will make no significant difference.

The idea that we sit pretty while our neighbours are taking military risks to increase their, and our, longer-term security while supposedly upping their short-term chances of another atrocity is an unthinking, selfish and cowardly position to take, no wonder it appeals more to Corbyn than most.

Agreed and while this may be seen as an anti-Corbyn platform, the ultimate reason for that is Corbyn.

Wishy washy is bang on, perhaps deep down he knows he'll only be in the post a short time so he doesn't have to try that hard at leaving his mark. Useless / pathetic to the country at large, but useful to the Tories, for now at least. The question is, does anyone in the Labour party actually see the bigger picture, do any of them see the how much of a joke it all looks 'from the outside'? Perhaps some of them do, but won't admit as much until he's long gone. As a 'leader' he has no redeeming features whatsoever.

DUP leader Nigel Dodds on JC & JMcD's response to airstrikes:

......petulant, putrid response of the irresponsible revolutionary bedsit they barely seem to have clambered out of.

Bloody hell...
I wonder what JC actually makes of all this criticism

On Sky website: Corbyn put a letter out saying he couldn't support the government's position on air strikes - non of the shadow cabinet knew about it. Mass resignations expected from the Corbyn front bench if he decides to whip the vote.

It must be clear by now that Corbyn is playing some kind of perverse joke on the UK.

Didn't Robert Harris or someone write thriller about how the KGB had infiltrated a spy into the very top of Government?

It would be amusingly hypocritical if he did.

Jeremy Corbyn speaking in Parliament during the debate on air strikes in Syria in 2013 said:
On something so fundamental as the deployment of armed forces, a free vote is the right thing to do.

As much as I'm enjoying Comrade Corbyn's spell as leader of the opposition it's not a good thing to have any government to go unchallenged in the way that is happening now.
