Thought I'd post this just in case proves helpful in the future to fellow sufferers!

Other half's 1.4 petrol started suffering from an odd fault where it would occasionally cut out when slowing down and dipping the clutch. Car was running beautifully otherwise but engine would suddenly stop - making the controls weight up heavily when you weren't expecting it! The car would start again instantly with a turn of the key.

I swapped over the MAP sensor and idle control valve (both quick, easy jobs) which seemed to cure the problem until a day later it happened again. With the bonnet up I noticed there was a strange clicking/sparking noise on occasion from start up which sounded electric. I swapped the coil pack for a new one and now have gone a couple of weeks without any issues.

Apparently this has been a long term issue with the 206 but I found lots of conflicting advice suggesting everything from overfilled oil to BSI/ECU replacement. Hopefully this post might give others with these specific symptoms a helping hand.
