OK then, for several years I've been using the old-fashioned TomTom which was very easy to use except the actual road view wasn't perfect, so last year I purchased a TomTom Go 500 because it came with free lifetime maps and traffic updates, but if I'm honest came installed with the most horrible menu system imaginable, where the hell has the home button gone?

New users may not notice how poor it is compared to the original interface, but having used old and new I must say that the new menu system is truly dreadful, but TomTom are adamant that the new menu interface is better... which it isn't.

So have to ask which current TomTom sat nav systems are for sale which use the old menu interface because I'm in the market for one of these instead of this current abortion.

Sorry TomTom, but the new menu interface sucks, so pull your heads out of your bottoms and provide an update so that users can select whether to use the new or old menu system.

All the new range use the new interface I've got a Go 510 and I think its leagues ahead in speed and use then my old go 1005. As far as I'm aware that is the last unit available using the old Menu system. Side by side the old menu system is laggy with a lot more menus to scroll to get going to a destination.

The only reason the software is faster is because the processor is faster, the actual 'ease of use' software usability factor has fallen off a cliff.

So why doesn't the new TomTom software remember the previous destinations you have visited so you can select them from a drop down list at a later date?

And why is there no home button on the main screen?

And as I found out recently, in the event the road is closed ahead there is no easy way to tell the new and improved damn thing to re-route like you could on the earlier model.

Bottom-line is that the latest TomTom software is shockingly poor, and if I could return it I would.

Why won't TomTom at least give users the choice of which software to use?

As it stands I won't be buying another TomTom and will be voting with my feet next time and using either Google Maps or Apple Maps which at least allow you to pinpoint where you want to go.
