I have never been comfortable in the seats on my current car and then a couple of weeks ago, I sat in my mates car who had refurbed the base of his seat with a rubber mat and some cable ties! info for his inspiration can be found here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Despite outwardly looking the same as mine, it was like sitting in a different seat!

Last week, I did my drivers seat and including removing and replacing the seat, it took about 2.5 hours.

I used a cut down mat and for a little bit more padding, I also put in a similar sized piece of carpet. Fortunately, I had no rust or broken wires, so it was a simple case of removing the staples from the leather holding the rear of the seat cover in place and sliding the two pieces inbetween the foam and wires/string as per the pictures.

It felt a lot firmer but the real proof was this weekend - 5.5 hours drive on Saturday and still reasonably comfortable at the end of it.

If you look at your seat base and the centre leather is not supported by padding, give this a go.

I used to do this to all the chims and griffs that came through my bay, a simple fix and helpful foo.
