Not sure if you checked the additional reply on your first post here but I'll re-cap.
After my test drive I went about looking more into these cars on the various forums and was pleased to conclude nothing much seems to go wrong provided they are serviced properly.
In my reply I did mention the performance pack which quite a few cars came with and is definitely worth looking out for a car with the full P30 performance pack which is a £7000.00 plus VAT extra on the car.
It includes the larger front discs, forged alloy wheels, LSD, tweaked performance suspension and I think exhaust system but I could be wrong.
When I drove one without the package I am sure there was a difference but I was new to these cars and had decided on getting one with the performance package as I couldn't really see a great deal of difference in the price but the full PP equipped cars sold a lot quicker (two sold in my endeavour to buy one very quickly)
They are a real bargain at the moment in my opinion and servicing seems to be very reasonable as you can have a service plan at the main agent but a lot of owners prefer the independents and most are spoken of very highly. I have spoken to two local main agents as I'm a sceptical so and so but I honestly got the feeling they were decent enough.
You can get a build sheet on the car that lists all the extras or at least mine came with it.

Looks nice and seems to have the full PP pack, as price guide I paid £37K for a 27000 mile 2008 model from my local Porsche Centre with a years warranty, it was a steal but I caught them at the end of the quarter and bought it on the spot.
The one I test drove in Guilford at a main dealer was a 2010 with PP 30K miles and a full MB warranty at £48K.
Alexanders seem to have mixed the power up with a later Turbo model as my spec sheet states 525 BHP up 27 on the standard. The car looks immaculate but quite expensive.

I may be stating the obvious but there is a display on the speedo and rev counter which can be scrolled through for all sorts of info. Initially there is a flashing oil temperature which stops flashing once the correct temperature is reached, you can access tyre pressures from this after a few minutes.
If you press and hold the AMG button on the central tunnel you can set sports suspension how you like I tend to use Sport + on the gear selector which I find about the best setting. Once set you can still retain certain parameters and alter others like comfort mode instead of sport but still retain Sport+
V-Power suits the car rather than standard unleaded.
If you go to look at others be aware that you can buy the nicer performance steering wheel and not the full PP pack it had me fooled for a while but you can't mistake the bloody great big front discs on the full PP car.
There are a few interesting reviews of the car Chris Harris for Evo in December 2009 and a video by Jay Leno can be found too best search for 2009 SL63 for the results.

Well done, it's a very late registration too,did you manage to do a deal. I am sure you will grow to like the car the more you use it.
I'm booked into MB World at Brooklands tomorrow to do a three hour driving course in an SL63. Although I've done a few track days I think it would be a good idea to get the hang of the car on the wet circuit and the handling circuit just to see what the limits of the car are plus of course the best bit it's someone else's car

Funny enough that's where I had a track hour with that car and I've wanted one ever since.

It was a very wet day at MB World today and just the conditions I wanted, it enabled me in the three hours to not only try the various skid pan and slalom sections but I was able to spend literally all of the time on the long and short circuits. There is no doubt about it the handling limits of the SL 63 a very high indeed I was able to build up the speed with and without ESP and think I learned mine and the cars limits.
From my point of view it was better than going on a track day in the car because first there was only one knob on the track so no other knobs to worry about hitting you. Secondly it was someone else's car and as long as you didn't go like an idiot the instructor just gave helpful insights into what was going on.

If that was earlier this year and a designo colour that would have been my old car smile

Great cars, enjoy!

You'll be lucky to get more than 13 MPG I've had mine for three months now and still only get that, I guess the novelty takes a very long time to wear off.
You have to be careful powering away if the car is at an angle because it does deliver the power in an instant and will catch you out, although as I found out at the test track the electronics do kick in and save all but the most stupid of manoeuvres.
As I have mentioned I did the three hour course at MB World with the sole intention of finding the cars limits on the road (they will cater for your requirements) the limit is immense but when you squiggle it down the road you think this is an uncontrollable beast but cornering even in the wet is of a speed you would never sensibly do on the road. I was very impressed with the car in the wet even with ESP set at Sport.

Mine has Yokohama Advan Sports 105's no complaints but I will be replacing them with Michelin PS2's with the MO1 designation which is for AMG cars. The car I used at MB World had Continental and the wet grip on those was amazing.
Camskill sell the MO1 Michelins at about the best price and I'm considering just buying a set.

In the past when I posted on here about SL 63's there was no actual response from any owners make of that what you will. At a recent MB gathering down South here there were plenty of SL55's but only me in a SL 63 so I guess there aren't that many around.
How are you getting on with the fuel consumption? I've called mine George because it drinks so much.

I knew there aren't many around well not at 50k
Very disappointed as there's no communication from others seriously quiet here unlike AM
I reset all trips and had a good day out today motorway A roads and towns levelled out @20mpg so on par with the DBS
Car gets the looks to which is nice so not fell down the ladder as much as I thought.

Very nice, according to 'how many left' there are a total of 262 SL63 N/A 6.2 litre cars registered in the UK, you would have thought that a few would check out this section or post on here. I know of one other SL63 on the MBClub UK website but have not met him as of yet.
You never know perhaps this may prompt other owners of the SL 63 to join in.
I must be driving too fast I still only get 13 MPG although I did reset the trip computer put the hood up and drove at a steady 70 MPH to our local Pistonheads Breakfast Club along the M27 and got about 26 but have never seen that sort of MPG since.
