when i bought my 3000s it came with a tonneau cover and i've just found out that the tonneau cover supplied is for a mgbeek
I Wonder if any of you with a 3000s have a tonneau cover and some photos.
It seems a good idea to have a tonneau so when it's sunny i can leave the Hood in my garage and use tonneau if needed. A friend with an Austin Healey 3000 also has a cover just for covering the folded Hood which looks very neat.
many thanks for info in advance

hi Andrew,
WOW very nice, you must spend a lot of time polishing her. My favorite colour, maybe "Carnival Red" like my Lotus Elan +2 that i sold to make room for the 3000S.
Do you have any poppers on the top edge of the doors to attache the tonneau.
My car has one popper in the middle top edge of each door, maybe to stop any puddlesbiggrin

Not at the moment but Lee at Trim unique is getting me some to add to match what I have as that was never on it and especially on the passenger side when driving solo it flaps a bit but yes I was very lucky its a heavy duty cover and fits very well.
We have the factory hard top as well for her so the complete package once I get the hard top restored probably this winter.

Alan,

I'll email you a few more if you like.....

4 press studs on each door, the a 1/4 turn fastener behind then more poppers around the rear....

Be careful if you do one, the crash pad on top of the dash is fixed at either end but not in the middle so can lift there.

I am going to glass in a bracket underneath to add to the rigidity,

Dave

bonjour Dave,
thanks for the photo and reminding me that i have that one.If you can e-mail me some others that will be great. It looks like all the 3000S cars have poppers and 1/4 turn buckles in different places depending on who did the job.I will take some photos of poppers on my car to compare. I imagine if the pockets for the headrests support the tonneau it could prevent puddles in the middle, just in case it rains.
The MGB tonneau i have is a heavy duty one in good condition and i will see if it can be modified, e.g. pockets added for the headrests and Pocket for top of steering Wheel.
When you put the roof down on your car how do you fold it or do you remove everything including the frame

Salut Alan,

It has not had the hood on it for a while now as it never rains here....... biggrin

That said, it came out of hybernation yesterday, and at that precise moment the heavens opened up and its been raining ever since.......

I need to run in the rebuilt engine so the frame is going back on this afternoon and I will be out in the wet. I'll photograph some details of the fixing when I change it over, but I don't plan on using the car much with anything apart from the tonneau.

In the photo I posted, taken by the previous owner, I don't think the headrests were in place. I have since replaced the foam in them and they fill the pockets nowadays.

A+

Dave

Rudy,
what colour do the other "Blues Brothers" rolleyes have.
A Tip: When i fold the Hood down i put a sausage door draught excluder inside the fold of the rear screen to stop any sharp kinks. The screen stays in a smooth cylinder shape
