Route back from Barcelona to St Malo ...... via where ??

I am staying near Barcelona for a week with the family (in Blanes) and have the second week not yet booked (this is 3 weeks from now). The route down is overnight and as direct as I can but I am hoping for a fantastic driving route back and can go via the Alps or Pyrenees. I will be heading for St Malo over the course of the second week.

Wife & 3 kids are OK with this as long as they get their end sorted and don't spend too long in the car travelling so have tried mapping out a suitable route but don't know the best passes that are closer to northern Spain or Western side of the Alps.

What passes/roads would you recommend I look at travelling up from that way to form part of the trip back up ?

We drove the N-260 along the Spanish side of the Pyrenees last September and the roads are amazing and were very quiet that time of year.
